West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) has begun anti-viral and anti-bacterial treatment of the entire interior of its trains, with plans to implement the treatment on about 3,600 cars running in the Keihanshin area by the end of September and eventually on all 5,200 cars on conventional lines. The plan is to ensure the safety and security of passengers under with corona. The system uses chemicals that have been confirmed by a third-party organization to be effective against influenza and noroviruses. The effect will last for several years, the company said.
