Japan: Otsuchi Town in Iwate Shrouded in Smoke From Wildfire

Two wildfires burning in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture have entered their sixth day, with flames continuing to spread into school grounds and residential neighborhoods, prompting authorities to issue new evacuation orders for additional districts. The fires, which broke out on April 22, have scorched more than 1,600 hectares. The videos show the Kirikiri district shrouded in smoke from one of the fires on April 25.

US: One Killed, Five Injured in Shooting at Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge

A fight between two groups inside the food court at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge erupted into gunfire on Thursday, April 23, killing one person and injuring five others, including three high school students from Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette. Five people were detained, while police said additional suspects remained at large.

US: Grass Fire Prompts Evacuation in Thornton, Colorado

A fast-moving grass fire fueled by strong winds and dry conditions broke out in Thornton, Colorado, Wednesday morning, February 25, injuring four firefighters and one civilian and prompting evacuations of nearby neighborhoods, businesses, and Pinnacle Charter School. Thick smoke forced a temporary closure of Interstate 25, while roughly 150 responders worked to contain the 10-acre blaze by mid-afternoon. No homes were destroyed, evacuations were later lifted, and the cause remains under investigation. This video shows smoke visible from the River North Art District (RiNo), north of downtown Denver.
