Jubilee 2025 in Rome - The Seven Churches Pilgrimage

Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme (the Holy Cross in Jerusalem) in Rome, Italy on December 2024, is one of the churches included in the itinerary of the pilgrimage of the seven churches of Rome which is an itinerary of about 20 kilometers that pilgrims use to cover in a single day during the year of the jubilee. The start of the Jubilee year will be on Christmas Eve 2024, with the opening of the Holy Doors in Rome in the basilicas of St Peter, San Giovanni in Laterano, San Paolo Outside the Walls and Santa Maria Maggiore. The tradition of visiting all seven churches was started by Philip Neri around 1553 in order to combine conviviality and the sharing of a common religious experience through discovering of the heritage of the early Saints. The seven churches included in his itinerary are: Basilica of St Peter in the Vatican, Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, Basilica of St Sebastian Outside the Walls, Basilica of St. John Lateran, Basilica of Holy Cross in Jerusalem, Basilica of Saint Lawrence Outs
