Matsushita to launch fluorocarbon-free refrigerator

OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. will launch next Feb. 1 the first refrigerator in the Japanese market that does not use fluorocarbon refrigerants, which are thought to emit ozonosphere-depleting gas, the company said Nov. 8. The 320-liter NR-C32EP fridge employs a cooling system that uses hydrocarbon refrigerant, which is much less harmful to the environment.
