Traditional firefighters celebrate the new year

Members of a group preserving Japanese traditional firefighting techniques celebrate the New Year by parading in an open square at the Tokyo Big Site, in Ariake, Tokyo on Jan. 6. During their annual New Year's drills, called Dezome-shiki, they perform acrobatic stunts on bamboo ladders.
