STORY: Group of rare bird species spotted in China's Yunnan DATELINE: Sept. 16, 2022 LENGTH: 00:01:08 LOCATION: KUNMING, China CATEGORY: SOCIETY SHOTLIST: 1. pics of the 22 blossom-headed parakeets 2. various of blossom-headed parakeets STORYLINE: A total of 22 blossom-headed parakeets were recently spotted in Ruili, southwest China's Yunnan Province. The rare bird species mainly lives in China's Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other provinces. It has been put under second-class national protection. Some bird experts had thought that blossom-headed parakeet might have disappeared in China years ago, until seven of them were spotted in Yunnan in 2015. Experts said that the pictures of 22 parakeets may prove that the number of the bird species has increased in China. Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Kunming, China. (XHTV)
