TOKYO, Japan - Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. will step up computer security efforts for customers of its Internet banking by introducing a new system that automatically changes a password, which can be used only once, every minute, the bank said on Jan. 12. The new ''One-time Password'' system, to be introduced next month, will provide applicants from the bank's 6 million online customers with a device (in photo) incorporating software to automatically change six-digit passwords for them.

DoCoMo AOL begins service to find lost cell phones

TOKYO, Japan - DoCoMo AOL Inc. has launched a service to help mobile phone users find their handsets when they lost them. The new service requires users to register their e-mail addresses, passwords and other data in advance. When they lost their handsets, they access DoCoMo AOL's Web site via their personal computers and input their data. The handset then displays a message telling the finder to contact the owner at the phone number shown. (Kyodo)
