China: Ducks Killed After Pecking at Feed Bags Causes Grain Stack to Collapse on Farm

This is the shocking moment that a group of Chinese ducks were accidentally crushed when a pile of stored corn suddenly collapsed inside a farm warehouse. On December 21, 2025, in Yancheng, Jiangsu, the video captured a group of ducks sneaking toward stacked feed bags filled with corn inside a grain storage area. The ducks gathered beneath the pile and pecked at the lower bags, which gradually weakened the structure holding the corn in place. Moments later, the entire stack lost balance and collapsed downward. The falling corn bags and grain pile suddenly buried several ducks underneath, leaving some of them trapped and unable to escape. According to the farm owner, eight ducks had been found dead after the cleanup was completed. The video ended with the collapsed grain pile covering the ducks, leaving some of them completely trapped underneath.

L214 Denounces The Breeding Conditions Of Hens

Handout photo - On Wednesday 21 April, the animal rights organisation L214 denounced in a video the conditions in which hens are reared on the ground, with eggs classified as "code 2", even though this system, which is currently in full expansion, is presented as a satisfactory solution to replace cages. A video shot at farms in the Côtes-d'Armor and Vendée regions, western France, one of which has 30,000 birds, shows hens crammed onto shelves, with no access to the outside or natural light. Also shown are deplumed, dying or dead hens, whose entrails are pecked out by their fellow birds. The association is therefore asking supermarkets to stop selling these "code 2" eggs.
