Locals say their ancestors had required the younger generations to stick to the family discipline, which asked them to plant more trees and not to fell them. SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): KANG ZHAOXUN, Villager "This is a tradition from our ancestors. It was written in our pedigree, telling us descendants not to fell trees randomly."
