Ren Xin, a 19-year-old college student, was fascinated with dancing since her childhood. She was one of the actors and actresses who performed the traditional "bian lian", or face-changing during the opening ceremony of the 31st FISU Summer World University Games in Chengdu on July 28, 2023. Ren Xin, who was born in a remote mountain village called Changsheng Community in Washi Township of Tongjiang County in Sichuan Province, is now a student majored in dancing performance at Sichuan Film and Television University. (230519) -- NANJING, May 19, 2023 (Xinhua) -- Sun Jing (1st R) and Shi Jinfang (1st L) teach children to control puppets at a kindergarten in Qidu Town, Wujiang District of Suzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province, April 20, 2023. Kunqu, with a history of hundreds of years, is listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as an intangible cultural heritage in 2001. In Qidu Town of Suzhou, there is a unique form of Kunqu Opera called "Kunqu Puppet" which features actors presenting performance with puppets on the stage. In order to inherit the traditional "Kunqu Puppet", Sun Jing, Shi Jinfang and Shi Xiaoming were selected by local authority to study Kunqu Opera performance in an opera school while they were still middle school students in 2004. At the opera school, they first learned the art of Kunqu Opera performance before moving on to puppet handling.
