Settlement Growth in the Nile Delta - Egypt

Handout Photomontage shows Settlement Growth in the Nile Delta. The United Nations’ World Urbanisation Prospects 2025 was published on 17 November 2025. Drawing on data from the Joint Research Centre’s Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL), developed under the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS), the report tracks changes in population distribution across more than 12,000 urban settlements. It highlights a global shift in settlement patterns, with the majority of the world’s population now living in urban areas. This image, created with GHSL data, focuses on the Nile Delta in Egypt, one of the world’s most densely populated regions. By comparing estimates of built-up surface at three points in time, it shows how the extent of urban development has changed between 1975 and 2025, along with projections for 2075. Using satellite data and national census inputs, GHSL provides a broad range of data on human settlements worldwide, including estimates of built-up surfaces per square kilometre and, at even

Hangar Y Hopes To Host The Olympic Cauldron - Meudon

January 13, 2025- Photomontage - 2024 Olympics: Hangar Y in Meudon, near Paris, hopes to host the Olympic cauldron. The site built in Meudon (Hauts-de-Seine) has submitted its bid to permanently house this symbol of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Hangar Y in Meudon, south-west of Paris, was not necessarily the most obvious choice, but it makes sense. Firstly, because its dimensions are ideal: 28 m high, 40 m wide and 70 m long, the perfect setting for the cauldron. But above all, the Y hangar seemed predestined, having been built at the 1879 Universal Exhibition for experiments on airships. Photo by ABACAPRESS.COM

City Hall Plan To Lower Ring Road Speed - Paris

PHOTOMONTAGE of a speed limit sign on Paris’ "Peripherique" ring road on December 7, 2023 in Paris, France. The French government and Paris city officials were at loggerheads on Thursday, December 7, over a flagship plan to cut the speed limit on the capital's congested ring road after the 2024 Olympic Games. The mayor's office said last month that the restrictions aimed at reducing pollution and noise from the "Boulevard Peripherique", one of Europe's busiest roads, would come into force a few weeks after the Games end. The speed limit would be lowered to 50 kilometers per hour on the ring road, from 70 km/h currently. But on Thursday, Transport Minister Clément Beaune rejected the initiative, saying it was "not a good idea in the short term." Although the ring road "is managed by the city of Paris," a change in the speed limit "obviously requires approval from the state," said Beaune. Photo by Tomas Stevens/ABACAPRESS.COM
