World Cup midfielder Ogasawara joins Messina on loan

NARITA, Japan - Kashima Antlers' World Cup midfielder Mitsuo Ogasawara is about to depart from Narita airport on Aug. 28 for Europe to join Italian club Messina on a one-year loan deal. The pint-sized 27-year-old said before departing that he had mixed feelings about leaving Kashima. ''I did have the option of staying with Kashima but I have a stronger desire to play over there (in Italy),'' Ogasawara told reporters.
