Japan: Heavy Rain Water Pours Through Ceiling at Nagoya Subway Station

Torrential rain pounded Japan's Tokai region, including Aichi and Gifu prefectures, on Tuesday afternoon, September 8, flooding roads across the area. Nagoya recorded 101.5 millimeters of rainfall in one hour, the highest ever recorded in the city, and the downpour forced widespread train suspensions that stranded commuters, including a temporary halt to Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train services. This video shows a large amount of rainwater pouring down from the ceiling at Metro Heian-dori Station in Nagoya.

Japan: Floodwaters Pour Into Chiba Station Building Basement After Record Rainfall

Record rainfall hit the greater Tokyo area on Thursday, August 13, triggering significant flooding in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo. Many people were stranded at stations as waters reached waist level, causing train disruptions while vehicles were stuck in floodwaters. Videos posted on social media show floodwaters pouring down stairs and escalators into the basement of a shopping complex at Chiba Station.

Spain: Heavy Rains Cause Flooding and Landslides in Parts of Catalonia

Heavy storms and rainfall of over 100 liters per square meter caused significant disruption in Catalonia on Sunday, September 21. The storms led to the collapse of access routes in some areas, the evacuation of 27 people from a cable railway, flight cancelation and road closures. In Sant Quintí de Mediona, a car was swept away by floodwaters, leaving two people missing. The body of a child has been found, and the search for their father is ongoing.
