Chile: M6.2 Earthquake Shakes Coquimbo Region

A strong 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Coquimbo region of northern Chile on Thursday morning, February 12. The quake hit near the town of Punitaqui at a depth of nearly 37 km. No tsunami warning was issued, and there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The video shows power lines swaying in San Ramón, Coquimbo.

The seabed cable and pipeline burying tractor, named Taurus, laid cables off the coast of the city of Zhanjiang, south China's Guangdong Province, in late May this year, according to its developer Sealien (Guangzhou) Technology. Such remote-controlled tractors are expected to facilitate the construction of offshore wind farms by exempting human workers from having to operate in the complicated deep-sea environment.
