The GUM ice rink has an area of 2,700 square meters. Its refrigerant pipes make sure its ice does not melt even at the temperature of 10 degrees Celsius above zero. It will remain open until February 28, 2023. According to mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, over 200 skating rinks with artificial ice are expected to operate this winter in the Russian capital. Ai-Di's Eco Cooler Slim, a simple cooling machine

Ai-Di's Eco Cooler Slim, a simple cooling machine

I.D. (Ota City, Gunma Prefecture) has developed a small, simple cold air blower that runs on storage batteries. It uses a refrigerant to cool the inside of the housing, and turns a fan to discharge cold air from the upper vents. The new cooler, "Eco Cooler Slim," is a combination of a housing that holds storage batteries, a fan, and a refrigerant, as well as storage batteries and a fan. An outlet is installed at the top of the housing, and the cold air sucked up by the fan is discharged outside. This makes it ideal for outdoor leisure activities such as camping, and for use in evacuation centers in disaster areas where there is no power supply. one that uses commercially available cooler boxes, and the other that is made of corrugated cardboard in the shape of a triangular cylinder with one side measuring about 35 centimeters. Ice making system developed by Professor Uemura of Nagaoka University of Technology

Ice making system developed by Professor Uemura of Nagaoka University of Technology

Professor Yasushi Uemura of Nagaoka University of Technology has developed a practical system for artificially making ice by radiative cooling. By preventing the flow path of the refrigerant from contacting the surface of the water to be frozen, the system generates a state of radiative cooling that causes the water to freeze gradually from the top. Like natural ice, the ice crystals are directed in a single direction, and the crystals are large. In cooperation with Sakata Corporation (Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture), the company aims to release the ice for commercial use next spring. They plan to sell ice on their own in the spring of next year with the aim of promoting the water quality of Niigata Prefecture and revitalizing the region. Professor Uemura is considering launching the ice making system itself in 2020, and is also seeking partner companies.
