A massive fire burns down bamboo scaffolding and protective mesh set up around a high-rise residential complex in the Tai Po district of Hong Kong on Nov. 27, 2025, a day after it broke out, leaving at least 94 people dead with 279 unaccounted for. Hong Kong's fire department said the mesh and foam board used for an ongoing refurbishment of exterior walls at the complex may have helped the fire to spread amid strong winds.
