As a collaborative development project between China and Togo, the SINTO sugar factory was formally handed over to the Togolese government on January 9, 1987. The factory currently yields an average of around 80,000 tons of sugarcane and 7,000 tons of white sugar annually, constituting approximately 25% of local consumption. During the time when sugarcane is crushed, the project creates approximately 2,000 jobs.
