Beyond Our Bodies

Beyond Our Bodies

Elliot, Melbourne, Australia, 2018. Beyond our bodies is a feminist project about female, trans masculine and non binary people's struggles in the contemporary world. It's about giving space for alternative voices to emerge and empowering marginalized bodies. It was shot between 2017 and 2019 between Australia, Thailand and France. This project helped me come to terms with my own gender fluidity that I was questioning at the time, and the camera was a bridge as well as a mirror. While gender roles and representations are slowly shifting in modern societies, it is important to redefine terminology and show people who break the rigidity of the binary boundaries in their daily lives, by challenging normative gender structures enforced by society since they were born. This diary of encounters is mostly captured in the intimacy of people’s homes, because it's a safe space for them to express their truth, beyond restrictive binaries that are unfit to their complexities. DENSO Corporation's D-Cell, a general-purpose rack for industrial robots

Denso has completed the D-Cell (photo), a general-purpose stand for industrial robots. The D-Cell has many holes for fixing robots and peripheral devices, wiring for communication, etc., and a built-in controller. With its unique high-rigidity frame, it can handle high-speed robot operations. With casters, it is easy to move and change robots, and can easily respond to changes in the production line. Two models are available, one with a width of 400 mm and the other with a width of 600 mm, and dust-proof, drip-proof, and dirt-proof types are also available. It can be equipped with standardized connection modules for various devices and equipment, handles for moving, and a breaker box. The company also plans to commercialize the "D-Vision" series, an inspection package that combines a robot and D-Cell with a high-performance camera equipped with artificial intelligence (AI). Taiwan-made general-purpose lathe "SJ series" imported and sold by TAKAMATSU MACHINE TOOL CO.

Taiwan-made general-purpose lathe "SJ series" imported and sold by TAKAMATSU MACHINE TOOL CO.

Interest in the SJ series ofgeneral-purpose lathes manufactured by Taiwan's Yu-Chia Industrial Group and imported and sold by Takamatsu Machinery is slowly increasing. Takamatsu Machinery has been dealing with the product since 2008, when it formed a partnership with Tomoka Jitsugyo. The reason for the interest is that the machine is priced at 3.3 million yen (excluding consumption tax), which is less expensive than domestically produced machines, yet it has the necessary rigidity and functions. Takamatsu believes that small and medium-sized factories have a deep-seated demand for general-purpose machines that are convenient for small-scale processing and that they would like to have one of these machines. The company plans to create opportunities to see the machines at exhibitions and other events as needed. Photo taken on October 26, 2019, credit: Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun / Kyodo News Images

Daihatsu's new platform with DNGA

Newly developed zero-based lightweight photosynthetic platform. In order to maximize the performance of handling stability and ride comfort, the suspension arrangement was designed with the highest priority, and the body frame was optimally arranged to significantly improve collision safety, NV performance, and body strength. Bending rigidity has been increased by 30% compared to the previous model, and the entire body frame, including the platform, has been lightened by approximately 40 kg through the use of high-tensile materials and structural rationalization. The new Tanto was unveiled at the Tokyo Prince Hotel on July 9, 2019. Credit: Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun / Kyodo News Images
