Kao and PFN collaborate on sebum RNA analysis

On the 20th, Kao announced that it will collaborate with Preferred Networks (PFN, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) on the practical application of sebum RNA monitoring technology, which extracts and analyzes ribonucleic acid (RNA) from sebum. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies such as machine learning and deep learning will be applied to the data obtained from sebum RNA. PFN's AI technology will be incorporated into this technology. Mr. Michitaka Sawada, President of Kao Corporation, said, "Accumulation of data makes prediction possible. "We can expect to use preventive cosmetics to improve the skin in a few years," he said. This technology is also expected to be used in the medical industry. The company is also conducting research with a view to using the technology in the early diagnosis of intractable diseases such as Parkinson's disease.
