Lebanon: Israel Carries Out Airstrikes Near Sidon

Israel carried out 2 airstrikes targeting alleged Hezbollah weapons warehouse locations near Sidon on Monday, February 19. Lebanese state-run National News Agency reported that "Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on the town of Ghaziyeh". The Israeli army said that the attack was in "response to to the explosion of an enemy drone, the wreckage of which was found near the Tiberias area this afternoon." Yuki Imaura, leader of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force's second contingent to Iraq, reports to Defense Agency Director General Shigeru Ishiba and returns the unit's flag on Sept. 12. A ceremony was held at the GSDF base in Sapporo to formally disband the 540-member contingent, which recently returned to Japan after completing a three-month aid mission in Samawah, southern Iraq.

CHITOSE, Japan - One of two government planes carrying the second core unit of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) troops takes off from the Chitose air base in Hokkaido on March 13 for Kuwait. The 190 troops, including 11 female troops, will be followed by the third and last contingent consisting of some 120 officers to be dispatched to the southern Iraqi city of Samawah later in March.
