Gov't adopts power-saving plan for summer

TOKYO, Japan - Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura (3rd from R) and other Cabinet ministers attend a meeting at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on May 18, 2012, to adopt a power-saving plan for this summer. TOKYO, Japan - Japanese Cabinet ministers hold a meeting on energy and the environment at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on May 14, 2012. In anticipation of tight electricity supply conditions in the summer of 2012 without nuclear energy, the government has taken the unusual step of drafting numerical targets for reduced power usage in extensive areas served by seven of Japan's 10 utilities.
