US: White Sage Fire in AZ Forces Evacuations of Grand Canyon’s North Rim, Jacob Lake

A rapidly growing White Sage Fire, which started on July 9 approximately 15 miles southeast of Fredonia on Bureau of Land Management lands, has expanded to an estimated 1,000 acres with zero containment as of July 10. This has prompted mandatory evacuations along the Grand Canyon's North Rim and for Jacob Lake, leading the National Park Service to close the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.

Jones (40) posted a time of 10.84 seconds to finish ahead of runner-up Chandra Sturrup (6) of the Bahamas. Melinda Gainsford-Taylor of Australia (1) was fourth. Kaori Sakagami in Lane 1 finished seventh and fellow Japanese Motoka Arai (51) in Lane 2 was eighth.
