Mount Fanjing Matcha Industry - China

Mount Fanjing Matcha Industry - China

An aerial drone photo shows a farmer applying shading nets at a tea garden in Jiangkou County of Tongren, southwest China's Guizhou Province, on April 16, 2025. Located at the foot of Mount Fanjing, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jiangkou County is a powerhouse in the world's matcha industry. The county boasts over 10,000 hectares of tea plantations, nearly a fifth of which are dedicated to matcha production. In 2024, Jiangkou County produced more than 1,200 tonnes of matcha with a total output value of 350 million yuan (about 48.02 million U.S. dollars). The local matcha products have been exported to more than 40 overseas markets. Experts and agronomists believe that Guizhou, located on a plateau, possesses geographical and climatic advantages such as high altitude, low latitude, abundant fog and limited sunlight ideal for growing tea. Therefore, tea produced in this area is green, ecological and organic. Photo by Ou Dongqu/Xinhua/ABACAPRESS.COM

CHINA-HEBEI-XIONG'AN NEW AREA-DEVELOPMENT (CN)

(240331) -- XIONG'AN NEW AREA, March 31, 2024 (Xinhua) -- A staff member shows the coated glass with thermal insulation and shading effects at the Xiong'an pilot free trade zone communication and exhibition center in Xiong'an New Area, north China's Hebei Province, March 28, 2024. In April 2017, China announced a plan to establish the Xiong'an New Area, which spans the Rongcheng, Anxin and Xiongxian counties, as well as some adjacent areas in north China's Hebei Province. The new area aims to relieve Beijing of non-essential functions related to its status as the nation's capital, while also advancing the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The country has also vowed to build Xiong'an, dubbed the "city of the future," into an innovative, green, smart and world-class city with blue skies, fresh air and clean water, in line with the country's high-quality development path. Seasonal shading systems cool the streets of Toulouse, here rue Alsace-Lorraine, France, Toulouse on July 18, 2023. Southern and eastern Europe are bracing for record breaking temperatures as a searing heatwave sets in. The extreme weather is partly due to the Charon anticyclone, which is pushing into Europe from north Africa. It is the second 'heat storm' in a week after the Cerberus weather system hit last Monday.
