Artisans Preserve Legacy of Truck Painting - Pakistan

An artisan carefully paints a vibrant peacock motif on the side of a truck at a workshop in the Pirwadhai area of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on July 31, 2025. Adorned with intricate designs, mirror work, and bold colors, truck art remains a powerful symbol of cultural identity and craftsmanship across Pakistan. This long-standing tradition, which began in the 1920s, transforms cargo vehicles into moving canvases that reflect poetry, politics, religious devotion, and personal pride. Each truck serves as a unique artistic expression by its owner and painter, often featuring animals, calligraphy, landscapes, and portraits of cultural icons. NASA Delays The James Webb Space Telescope Launch Again

★Handout photo dated May 16, 2017 of the towering primary mirror of NASAs James Webb Space Telescope stands inside a cleanroom at NASAs Johnson Space Center in Houston, where it will undergo its last cryogenic test before it is launched into space in 2018. In preparation for testing, the wings of the mirror (which consist of the three segments on each side) were spread open. This photo shows one fully deployed wing, and one that is moments from being fully deployed. An engineer observes the move. Last summer, NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) set an October 31, 2021, launch date for the $ 10 billion James Webb Space Telescope, but it's having to delay the science observatory's trip into space once again. This is Kagami-ike (Mirror Pond) located at the southeast of Chumon Gate of Todaiji Temple. Since Mt. Wakakusa is visible afar, this is the view from the Nanboku (lit. South-North) approach to the temple when facing southeast. The stairs at west of Nakashima Island and a torii gate are present. People originally entered from the west, however, at present the entrance is from the back east side.==Date:unknown, Place:Nara, Photo:Usui Shuzaburo?, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number65‐3‐0]
