Wriggling abiotic worm manifests "intelligent life" rudiment

STORY: Wriggling abiotic worm manifests "intelligent life" rudiment DATELINE: June 3, 2022 LENGTH: 00:00:42 LOCATION: Beijing CATEGORY: SCIENCE SHOTLIST: various of MetaWorm STORYLINE: MetaWorm, a simulation model of a roundworm, was unveiled at the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI) Conference 2022 on Tuesday. When stimulated by food signals, MetaWorm wriggles its body forward like a living worm. It mimics the 96 muscles and 302 neurons that compose the one-millimeter-long soft body of Caenorhabditis elegans, a type of roundworm. Developed by BAAI, MetaWorm can smell and move under the high-precision simulations of 106 neurons which are relevant to the dynamic mechanism. The La Palma Volcano Continues To Erupt - Spain

★The cloud of ash and sulfur dioxide that expels the La Palma volcano, from the urban center of Tacande, in the municipality of El Paso, La Palma, on September 22, 2021, in La Palma, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Islands Canarias, (Spain). The first simulations carried out on the trajectory of the ash cloud and sulfur dioxide that the volcano expels indicate that it could reach the Iberian Peninsula as of this Thursday and one of the first areas that would be affected would be the south of the Community Valencian. Likewise, the gas emissions expelled by the Cumbre Vieja volcano will also reach other nearby Canary Islands such as El Hierro, La Gomera and Tenerife. According to data from the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan), the nine mouths of the La Palma volcano expel some 10,665 tons of sulfur dioxide daily that rises rapidly through the ash column and remains suspende
