Japan wins Yokohama Int'l Women's Ekiden

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Veteran Yoko Shibui crosses the finish line to give Japan a record 10th victory at the Yokohama International Women's Ekiden near the Red Brick Warehouse in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, on Feb. 22. Japan covered the 42.195-kilometer course of the six-leg road relay race in 2 hours, 15 minutes, 5 seconds for its first win in four years.

MAEBASHI, Japan - Former world champion Frederic Magne (5) of France crosses the finish line at Green Dome Maebashi in Gunma Prefecture on April 17 for his first victory in the international keirin series being staged in Japan. The 1997 keirin world champion completed six laps in 2 minutes, 52.4 seconds to win the third event of the six-leg series by a half-length.
