Volkswagen Group Japan unveils restyled Golf car

TOKYO, Japan - Volkswagen Group Japan K.K. took the wraps off the new-generation Golf car (in photo) on May 14 and said it will roll into showrooms in Japan on June 9. The Japan unit of Germany's Volkswagen AG said the model, featuring a new six-speed automatic transmission and high body rigidity, was unveiled in Germany in October 2003 as the Golf's fifth model since 1974.

Volkswagen to release convertible model of New Beetle

NAGOYA, Japan - Volkswagen Group Japan K.K. said June 3 it will release the New Beetle Cabriolet (in handout photo), the convertible version of the New Beetle passenger car, for 3.33 million yen on June 14. The vehicle has a steering wheel on the right side and is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and has an engine displacement of 2000 cc. Its roof automatically opens or closes in 13 seconds.

Honda's new NSX model to be highest-priced Japanese car

TOKYO, Japan - Honda Motor Co. said on May 23 it will add a new model to its NSX series of sports cars at a price of 11.95 million yen, the highest for a car made in Japan. The NSX-R will go on sale in Japan on May 24 with an annual sales target of 60 units. The two-seater NSX-R, a new version of the NSX-R sold between 1992 and 1994, is equipped with a 3.2-liter engine and a six-speed manual transmission.
