China: Turtle Bites Cat Drinking Water From Water Tank

On May 11, 2026, in Jilin, located in northeastern China, a video captured a turtle lying at the bottom of a water tank. A cat seemed to be thirsty and bent down to drink water from the tank. The sound may have disturbed the sleeping turtle. The turtle suddenly became angry and jumped up to bite the cat. The cat reacted very quickly, moved away from the tank, and jumped onto the table.

OTSU, Japan - An 86-centimeter-long alligator snapping turtle is kept in a cage at the Shiga prefectural head office in Otsu on Oct. 18, 2010, after it was captured in an agricultural reservoir in Kusatsu in the prefecture. A prefectural government official said the turtle apparently grew to its present size in the reservoir after being abandoned by its unknown owner. The species is originally from the United States.
