In 2006, a collection of ancient ethnic love songs was discovered in the home of Nong Fengmei, a local villager. The collection comprises of 81 hieroglyphic symbols that were recorded on a piece of hand-woven cloth. Each symbol represents a love song or a type of love song. CD book expected to deepen awareness on Ainu culture

TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken in Tokyo on Sept. 6, 2012, shows a songbook explaining the meanings and backgrounds of the lyrics of traditional Ainu pieces as well as their vocalism, with accompanying CDs. Photos are also provided enabling readers to visualize how Ainu people dance to the songs.
