Falconers To Fight Against The Starling Nuisances - Strasbourg

Falconers To Fight Against The Starling Nuisances - Strasbourg

Falconers have been putting an end to starling nuisances for years in Strasbourg. Thousands of starlings form dormitories in the trees of the Loucheur housing estate in the Port du Rhin in Strasbourg. This cohabitation generates numerous complaints from residents, shopkeepers and members of associations. The nuisances observed are above all health, noise and economic. Kilian Martel and Alex Vignon, falconers from the Phoenix Effarouchement company, work with Alpha and Vado, a male and a female Harris's hawk. The birds of prey trigger attacks on the starlings, to create a feeling of insecurity and force them to move, to continue their migration. Small bells, attached to the legs of the buzzards, reinforce the scare. An environmentally friendly method of moving starlings. October 26, 2021, in Strasbourg, Northeastern France.
