In July, energy was 108 percent more expensive than in the same month in 2021. Meanwhile, food was 12.3 percent more expensive than in the same month last year, compared to an 11.2 percent rise in June. Cereal products, dairy products, and sugar and confectionery, including ice cream, contributed most to this development. In a statement, the authority added the service, which will be offered for the first time, will cover capitals of governorates only, in addition to Edfu and Kom Ombo stations. It said the new and fast service will start on the Cairo-Aswan line on Tuesday, explaining that other lines will also be included in the newly introduced service soon. In late Dec. 2021, Egypt announced the retirement of the old railway carriages running on its 10,000-kilometer railway tracks, which currently transport up to 1.1 million passengers on a daily basis.
