On Wednesday, March 11, a large underground steel pipe suddenly protruded about 13 meters above the ground below the elevated Shin-Midosuji road in the Umeda district of Osaka, prompting traffic restrictions in the surrounding area. The cause of the incident remains under investigation and no injuries have been reported.

The fire was apparently triggered by the leakage of coke gas in a 1-meter-diameter pipe while workers were reinforcing parts to support another gas pipe, firefighters said.
