Oldest wooden church of Ukraine in Stara Skvariava village

STARA SKVARIAVA, UKRAINE - OCTOBER 24, 2023 - Wooden tassels decorate the iconostasis in the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel, the oldest wooden church in Ukraine, Stara Skvariava village, Lviv Region, western Ukraine. With the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, experts of the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion have scanned the 16th-century church and created a 3D model and virtual tour of the temple.

The three women all have tattoos around the mouth area (left untinted?). They wear earrings with beads. The woman on each side wears an embroidered cotton coat over appliqu? and a necklace with tassels. In the centre foreground is a set of a lacquerware bowls, bo twigs, shu sake wine and a hei spatula, all indispensable to Ainu rituals.
