This is a photograph of Empress Teimei (Empress Taisho) taken at the time of coronation. She was the fourth daughter of government official Kujo Michitaka and Noma Ikuko Noma. Sadako by name, she completed middle school at the school for the imperial family and married Prince Yoshihito in 1900 and became Empress in 1912.
