China: Man Climbs 30-Meter Tree to Rescue Stranded Cat

This video shows the heartwarming moment a Chinese man risked his own safety to rescue a helpless cat stranded high above the ground for more than a week. Filmed on December 11, 2025, in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, the footage captures retired veteran Zhang Yuhua climbing a nearly 30-meter-tall metasequoia tree to save a small cat trapped at the top. Using only his bare hands and no professional climbing equipment, Zhang carefully made his way up the towering tree. According to the video, the cat had been stuck there for nine days and was growing visibly weaker. After several tense moments, he reached the cat, secured it, and slowly descended, prompting applause from onlookers. Zhang later said the cat was taken to a temporary foster shelter for care and observation.

This photo taken on December 23, 2025 shows the exit of Tianshan Shengli Tunnel on Urumqi-Yuli Expressway in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, the world's longest expressway tunnel, and the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway that traverses the Tianshan Mountains via the tunnel, will be open to traffic by the end of this year, enabling a new shortcut linking southern and northern parts of Xinjiang. The 22.13-kilometer tunnel will reduce the time it takes to drive across the middle section of the Tianshan Mountains from several hours to about 20 minutes. Once operational, the travel time from the regional capital of Urumqi, north of the Tianshan Mountains, to Korla, south of the Tianshan Mountains, will be shortened from seven hours to about three hours. China: Chubby Cat Squeezes Into Bag, Becomes a “Pillow”

On December 9, 2025, in Henan, located in central China’s Henan province, a video captured a chubby cat squeezing into a white transparent non-woven bag. As the cat settled inside, the bag ballooned into a rounded, cushion-like shape. From the outside, the filled bag looked like a plump tabby pillow resting on the floor. The cat’s body pressed against the sides, stretching the material into a smooth, firm surface. The owner laughed while opening the bag to let the cat out and joked to Chinese netizens that this was a simple way to “make” a fat-cat pillow at home. Viewers commented that the cat’s size made the effect especially convincing.
