Sapporo's snow festival opens

SAPPORO, Japan - Tourists view snow sculptures featuring the G-8 summit in Okinawa scheduled for July and the Summer Olympics in Sydney at the Sapporo Snow Festival which opened Feb. 7. The 51st festival features 330 large and small sculptures at three separate sites in the Hokkaido prefectural capital. The organizers expect more than 2 million visitors before the festival ends Feb. 13.
