We were displaced because of the continuous bombing around us. So we came here in the first week of the war." Naser then came up with music therapy to help the long-suffering people deal with the bleak reality. But it was not easy as she left behind all musical instruments when fleeing with her family. SO

NAGOYA, Japan - As townsfolk watch, municipal officials and volunteers in the Pacific resort of Osuka, Shizuoka Prefecture, battle April 6 to save a sperm whale which has been stranded on their beach. Workers used an excavator to dig a trench so that the whale can swim back out to sea when the tide changes.

Beached whale dies despite rescue efforts

SHIZUOKA, Japan, April 7 Kyodo - Townsfolk in the Pacific resort of Osuka in Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, watch a beached whale lie dead April 7 despite two-day efforts by the town's officials and volunteers to return it to deeper waters. A team of whale experts confirmed the 16-meter male sperm whale's heart stopped beating at 2:18 p.m.
