China: Geese Appear to Beg Owner to Spare Fellow Bird’s Life at Guangzhou Restaurant

This is the touching moment that two white geese appeared to plead for mercy as they repeatedly nodded at their owner, seemingly asking him to spare a gray goose brought in by a customer. On March 17, 2026, in Guangzhou, Guangdong, the video captured an unusual and emotional scene inside a local restaurant. A customer had brought a gray goose to the venue for a meal. As the goose was placed in the shop, two white geese kept by the restaurant approached and began circling around it. The pair repeatedly nodded toward their owner while staying close to the gray goose, as if trying to communicate distress and ask for intervention. Witnessing the interaction, the restaurant owner and his wife were visibly affected by what they perceived as the white geese’s attempt to “beg” for the gray goose’s life. The couple then decided to step in and prevent the gray goose from being used as food. The owners spent RMB 200 to purchase the gray goose from the customer, choosing to keep it alive in the restaurant alongside the others. The video ended with the rescued gray goose remaining at the restaurant, spared and joining the two white geese that appeared to have saved it.
