Forged cigarettes found in 3 prefectures near Tokyo

TOKYO, Japan - Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) has found at least 68 elaborately forged cigarette packs made to resemble two famous brands in Ibaraki, Saitama and Gunma prefectures. The photo, delivered by the Japanese tobacco monopoly in Tokyo on June 19, shows a genuine Mild Seven Lights package (L) and a forged one (R). The forged packs are almost identical to the genuine products except for subtle package distinctions, such as a missing bar code and a wrongly printed Chinese character, but the cigarettes taste very different.
