TOKYO, Japan - This file photo shows popular Japanese duo Chage and Aska performing in Seoul in August 2000. The two singers, who have staged many concerts in Asia, such as in China, Taiwan and South Korea, announced on their website Jan. 30 that they will stop playing as a pair for a while as they are both are more interested in performing solo. But the duo, who debuted in 1979, denied they will formally disband, saying, ''Our base should be Chage and Aska, after all.''

TOKYO, Japan - This file photo shows popular Japanese duo Chage and Aska performing in Seoul in August 2000. The two singers, who have staged many concerts in Asia, such as in China, Taiwan and South Korea, announced on their website Jan. 30 that they will stop playing as a pair for a while as they are both are more interested in performing solo. Singers of Japan, S. Korea sign friendship accord

TOKYO, Japan - Japanese singer Peggy Hayama (L), a member of a Japanese singers' association, and O Yong Nok, an official of its South Korean counterpart, exchange flags in Tokyo on Oct. 24 after the two associations signed a friendship agreement to deepen cultural exchanges. South Korea decided in June to further ease its ban on cultural imports from Japan.
