China: Massive Fire Engulfs Biotechnology Factory in Hebei

A major fire broke out at a biotechnology company in northern China, sending towering flames and thick smoke around a high-rise factory building. The fire erupted on December 11, 2025, at Guoxu Biotechnology Company in Fuping County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. The video shows the multi-story industrial building fully engulfed in flames, with heavy black smoke billowing into the sky. Local fire authorities said the blaze was caused by the ignition of insulation materials inside the factory. Firefighters extinguished the fire after about two and a half hours, and no casualties were reported.

The representation of the Nativity in the Paul VI Hall, Nacimiento Gaudium, features a figure of the Virgin Mary in a state of pregnancy and a collection of 28,000 coloured ribbons, each representing a life saved from abortion thanks to the prayers and support provided by Catholic organisations to many mothers in difficulty. The nativity scene measures five metres in length, three metres in height and two and a half metres in depth. While respecting tradition — with the presence of Joseph, the Magi, the shepherds and the animals — the work introduces an original element: two different and interchangeable representations of the Virgin Mary. During Advent, a statue of Mary pregnant, symbolising expectation and hope, will be on display; on Christmas Eve, this will be replaced with an image of the Virgin kneeling in adoration of the newborn Child. In addition, 400 ribbons with prayers and wishes written by young patients at the National Children's Hospital in San José will be placed in Jesus' cradle in the Paul V
