China: Trained Detection Dog Swims Wearing Custom Space-Style Helmet in Guangxi

On November 13, 2023, in Guangxi, located in southern China, a video showed a diver swimming underwater with a trained dog. The dog wore a specially customized helmet resembling a space suit. The helmet was designed to make underwater movement more comfortable. Together, the diver and dog moved smoothly beneath the surface. The dog was described as a trained narcotics detection dog. The video showed it performing confidently both on land and underwater.

TSUKUBA, Japan - Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata (3rd from L in a photo released by NASA) said on July 25 he is willing to go to the moon, Mars, asteroids or anywhere in the outer space if there is a project for him to participate in. Wakata made the comments from Florida in a teleconference with reporters in Japan. He is currently undergoing a weeklong training mission at an underwater laboratory off Florida, which was established about 19 meters below sea level for the training of astronauts for future space exploration. HONOLULU, United States - The Kairei, a 4,628-ton deep-sea research ship commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, is berthed at Honolulu port Aug. 11. The ship carrying an unmanned underwater search vehicle is to support the salvage of the Ehime Maru, a Japanese fisheries training ship that sank off Hawaii on Feb. 9.

YOKOSUKA, Japan - The 4,628-ton research ship ''Kairei'' leaves Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, on July 24 to join the salvaging of the Ehime Maru, a Japanese fisheries training ship that sank Feb. 9 off Hawaii. The Kairei carries the unmanned underwater vehicle ''Kaiko'' which will search the area where the ship has lain 600 meters undersea since the collision with a U.S. nuclear submarine.
