Mitsubishi to sell device for replaying video on handsets

TOKYO, Japan - Mitsubishi Plastics will put on the market at the end of June a device that can easily record television programs in memory cards for replay on mobile phone displays. The pyramid-shape recording device (photo), measuring 11.5 centimeters by 11.5 cm by 7.3 cm, can be connected with a TV or a videocassette recorder by a cable.

NTT DoCoMo to sell phone that acts as TV remote control

TOKYO, Japan - NTT DoCoMo Inc. said on Nov. 20 it will introduce the Mova N504iS mobile phone handset (photo) that can act as a remote control for TV sets and videocassette players, and photograph phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other data for storage in its memory chip with a built-in camera. The handset, manufactured by NEC Corp., will be priced at around 30,000 yen.

The disgruntled customer set up an Internet Web site to publicize how badly he had been treated. The site had been accessed more than 5.8 million times by July 19.

Toshiba criticized on Web site

TOKYO, Japan - Criticisms of major electronic maker Toshiba Corp. appear on an Internet Web site in response to rude remarks by its customer service official regarding a defective videocassette player. Toshiba has apologized for the inappropriate remarks, and the site will soon be shut down.
