According to Environment Canada, smoke from forest fires in Quebec has moved into the area, causing a decline in air quality. In response to the poor air quality, organizers at two major festivals in Ottawa canceled events. The Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival closed one day earlier, and the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival canceled all paddling events. The City of Ottawa also canceled its outdoor programs and closed wading pools and outdoor pools. Quebec's forest fire agency is currently fighting more than 80 fires in the province, with 25 out of control. Several municipalities have had to evacuate in recent days due to the fires.
