TOKYO, Japan - An electric board at Nakayama Racecourse shows a return of 10,149,930 yen on a 100-yen wager paid out at Fukushima Racecourse in Fukushima Prefecture on April 9. It is the highest return in the history of legal gambling in sports in Japan.

TOKYO, Japan - A horse race organized by the Japan Racing Association paid out 18,469,120 yen on a 100-yen wager on Oct. 22, the highest return in the history of legal sports gambling in Japan. Zenno Express, Kanesu Benefit and Keiai Carlton finished 1-2-3 at Tokyo Racecourse and the trifecta bet on them surpassed the previous record of 13,000,390 yen set in a race at Oi Racecourse in Tokyo in May 2005. FUKUI, Japan - The top three long shots paid out 2,340,220 yen on a 100-yen wager at a keirin race on April 12, the highest-ever return in the history of professional cycling in Japan. All combinations of 6-7-4 -- cyclists who finished 1-2-3 respectively in a race at the Fukui cycle-race track in Fukui Prefecture -- broke the previous record of 1,857,600 yen set in July 2002 in Aomori Prefecture.
