I am from Mexico. I'm an industrial engineer. I have worked for the past 35 years from the same company. In 2002, I made my first trip to China. The country was very modern, very different than all the stories they told me about. That's how everything started. Now I was impressed from the very beginning. The more I knew the country, the more impressed I was with it." "Take it easy, take it easy. We play sometimes. Just war

Seller of mizugashi,fruits and sweets

Carried on page 139 of the October 4, 1872 edition of The Far East. A vendor of fruits and sweets. This farmer is selling persimmons. Persimmons are as abundant as apples are in Britain, says the explanation, and it is a wonder why they are not exported to Europe because they will probably be liked by Westerners.==Date:First year of Meiji, Place:unknown, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number17‐55‐0]

Hairdressing

Carried on page 91 of the August 2, 1872 edition of The Far East. The explanation says that Westerners who do their own hair will probably not be able to understand why a hairdresser comes 2or3 times a week to the housewife's house to do her hair. The hairdresser keeps the hair clean, and the ohaguro (painting teeth of married women black) keeps women away from danger.==Date:unknown, Place:unknown, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number17‐54‐0]

Sawyers

Carried on page 151 of the October 19, 1872 edition of The Far East. The explanation says that the Japanese do things the other way compared to Westerners. The direction of the teeth of the saw and the way it is used show that. They worked slowly but constantly and the work load was large.==Date:Early Meiji, Place:unknown, Photo:THE FAR EAST, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number17‐45‐0]
