TOKYO, Japan - The Tokyo District Court on Dec. 4 ordered Mitsuko Yamada (file photo) who murdered a 2-year-old girl to pay the victim's parents 61 million yen in compensation, of which 19.8 million yen is to be paid in installments over 20 years. In November, the Tokyo High Court sentenced Yamada to 15 years in prison for strangling Haruna Wakayama on Nov. 22, 1999, in Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward and burying her body in the backyard of Yamada's parents' home in the town of Oigawa, Shizuoka Prefecture.
