Youngsters celebrate 'coming-of

Many kimono-clad women brave the season's heaviest snow in Tokyo and its vicinity Jan. 15 to attend ceremonies sponsored by municipalities to celebrate their reaching 20 years old -- the age at which one becomes an adult in Japan. Some 1.7 million men and women in Japan celebrated their adulthood on that day.
