New finance minister meets pres
Japan's new Finance Minister Hikaru Matsunaga meets the press
at the prime minister's official residence in Tokyo on Jan. 30 and
vows to do his utmost to enforce official discipline and recover
public trust in the ministry. Matsunaga succeeded Hiroshi Mitsuzuka
who stepped down from the post Jan. 28 to take the blame for a
bribery scandal involving two financial inspectors at the ministry.
