Calf cloned from adult somatic

A calf produced by cloning somatic cells taken from an adult cow with unfertilized eggs in Ishikawa Prefecture dies Aug. 1, four days after its birth. The calf was born in the world's second case using the technology at the Ishikawa Prefectural Livestock Research Center, following the birth of twin calves with the same technique at the center July 5. While hunting marmots is illegal in Mongolia, many Mongolians regard the rodent as a delicacy and ignore the law.
